Another basis for coin collecting is the composition of the coin. Some international coins are composed of different kinds of metals. It can be a combination of two or three metals. Coin collecting based on the period from which the coins were minted are called period collections. These collections may comprise of coins from the Victorian era or go as far down history as the Byzantine or Greek period.
